What Is Freight Distribution?
Freight distribution is the movement of palletized product from a warehouse to its next destination by LTL, full truckload, or last-mile delivery. Dircks Logistics distributes freight from its 700,000+ square foot Phoenix hub across the Phoenix metro and the Southwest, with next-day ground reach to Southern California, Nevada, New Mexico, and West Texas.
We receive, stage, and ship freight, and we run our own local fleet with air-ride and lift-gate equipped vehicles for sensitive or hard-to-handle deliveries such as hospital rooms, job sites, and retail backrooms.

How Freight Distribution Works at Dircks
- Inbound receiving. Freight arrives by container or truck and is scanned pallet by pallet at the dock.
- Staging or storage. Product is staged for immediate outbound or held in warehousing until orders release.
- Routing. Shipments are routed as parcel, LTL, FTL, or local delivery based on size, destination, and required delivery date.
- Dispatch. Outbound loads are verified by computer vision before departure.
- Delivery and proof. Tracking and proof of delivery post to your portal.

Who Uses Dircks Freight Distribution
Our distribution clients include medical device and hospital supply companies that need inside delivery to specific rooms, solar installers who want equipment on site the morning of the install, semiconductor suppliers moving materials to Arizona fabs, and consumer brands replenishing Southwest retailers. If your orders are individual units rather than pallets, see pick and pack.
Freight Distribution vs. Cross-Docking
Cross-docking is a subset of distribution where freight leaves within about a day of arriving. Freight distribution also covers product that is stored first and shipped as orders release, plus last-mile delivery on our own vehicles. Most clients use both: inbound loads cross-dock or go to storage, then distribute outbound as needed.
